Lambert Construction shares stadium award with Board of Education

Lambert Construction Company presented the Stillwater Board of Education and the OSU Long Range Facilities Planning group with a 2009 Build Oklahoma General Contractor Award at the April 13 Board of Education meeting. Lambert received the award for the construction of Pioneer Stadium at Stillwater High School at the 70th annual meeting of the Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma-Building chapter in January.

“Lambert Construction Company appreciates the support of the community during the construction of the project,” said Gregg Bradshaw, Senior Vice President of Lambert. “Cooperation between Stillwater Public Schools, SHW Group Architects, the OSU Long Range Facilities Planning group, and the City of Stillwater allowed us to complete the project on time and within the stipulated budget.”

Pioneer Stadium is a state-of-the-art multipurpose facility completed in September 2009. It is designed for football, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls track and field, band, and wrestling. The stadium also hosts events and competitions for many types of organization. Last fall, class B & C football championships took place at Pioneer Stadium, and two track meets have already been held there this spring. Last weekend the 2010 Alzheimer’s Memory Walk took place at Pioneer Stadium.

“People around the state can see the positive effects of the community’s decision to approve the bond issue,” Bradshaw said. “We can all have a sense of pride in the quality of the facility.”

The award is not just a win for Lambert, but a win for the community. Stillwater voters approved the project when they passed a $31 million bond issue in October 2007.

Many local subcontractors also took part in the construction of the stadium. These include Raygn Alexander, Wittwer Construction, Dolese Brothers, Kerns Construction, The Lee Company, Overhead Door Company of Stillwater, Stillwater Commercial Glass, Jack Long Plastering, Quality Concepts, Short’s Carpet and Tile, Irwin Custom Sign Co., B & L Heating & Air Conditioning, Murphy’s, Technical Services, and Aspen Custom Electronics.

“We need to use these bond programs to improve the school district, our community, and to continue forward progress,” Bradshaw said.
