Lambert Construction wins 2009 Build Oklahoma Award

Lambert Construction Company received a 2009 Build Oklahoma General Contractors Award at the 70th annual meeting of the Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma-Building chapter. The award, for the construction of Pioneer Stadium at Stillwater High School, was presented at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Okla., on January 23.

“We at Lambert are honored to receive this award,” Senior Vice President Gregg Bradshaw said. “It’s exciting to be able to showcase Pioneer Stadium and be recognized in such a way.”

Completed in September 2009, the $21 million stadium seats 6,000 people and is designed for football, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls track and field, band, and wrestling. The state-of-the-art facility is 37,108 sq. ft., including a 4,212 sq. ft. press box and hospitality suite.

“This is a project we are very proud of; receiving an award for it makes it even better,” Bradshaw said.

Lambert had help from several different organizations during the multiple phases of the project. Among them are the Stillwater Board of Education, Texas-based SHW Architect Group, and the OSU Long Range Facilities Planning group. Forty-five subcontractors – many from Stillwater and Oklahoma, and others from Texas, Arizona, Michigan, and elsewhere – had a part in construction of the stadium.

Stillwater voters deserve mention as well, having made the project possible by passing a $31 million bond issue in October 2007. “We need to use these bond programs to improve the school district, our community, and to continue forward progress,” Bradshaw said. “We appreciate everyone who was involved in this collaborative effort.”

Lambert Construction entered the competition by submitting a video slideshow to the AGC of Oklahoma that showed the high school’s old facilities in comparison with the new stadium.

The Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma is a statewide non-profit organization for construction professionals. Part of the national organization, it provides training, education, and technology programs for members. Lambert Construction has been an AGC member for more than 50 years and has won 10 awards from the organization.
